Jason picked Chester, his discovery up 2 years ago for £1000, he had done just over 70000 miles when he got him and had done just over 1000 miles over the last 11 years. He’s now on 86000. Jason has tried to do an OEM plus build, so he’s had a stage 2 remap bring improving the power from 135hp to approximately 180hp and 300nm to 400nm of torque, as well as the remap, He has done a centre silencer delete and fitted some all terrain tyres, next on the list is to replace the sidesteps and fit a heavy duty front bumper.

Frank has done over 100,000 miles since entering Ed’s possession. Frank is known as the workhorse and lifts and shifts anything and everything. Frank is about to undergo the knife as he gets a new lease of life with some new metal and a shiny new bulkhead and capping. He had done close to 300,000 miles and still going strong. Frank does however like to beat up Ed’s wife when she tried to drive Frank.

The Maxxis Bighorn tyres inspired the vehicle’s nickname, The General. The name also references General George Armstrong Custer’s last stand at Little Bighorn, reflecting the idea that this Land Rover may be small, but it is made to hold its ground. Off course it will break down at some point.
As an Armstrong, it also carries the family motto: We remain Unvanquished.
Gloria was found in a field as had been used, from the original purchase, as a farm vehicle. She was then purchased by Carla and was meant to be a project car for her Husband, but ended up replacing Carla's long-serving Skoda as the dog and family Car. 5 days after purchase and build of the dog crating system, Carla managed to successfully navigate Strata Florida with only 3 days of driving experience of Gloria and 0 hours of off-road experience, whilst still at Standard height and on 10yr old bald road tyres. She is now becoming an overlander for their growing family.

Registered first in Jersey on 15 June 2001. I believe since that date it had never left Jersey until April 2023 when it was part of a trip to Market Harborough to take part in the World Record attempt for the largest parade of Land Rover. Unfortunately, we did not break the record. After this we went to Devon for a couple of days Greenlaning.

“Mutley” is Stornoway Grey in colour, the Tasmin Blue enhancement was completed by Vehicle Workshop in St Peter. We have been on many trips to England & Germany and was going to complete the NC500 in Scotland, but broke down near Coventry, so that is still on the bucket list. Mutley is driven daily to work and back. He replaced my ageing 200TDI, and why a Hard Top you ask? – Well, I just love the capacity it holds inside when transporting club equipment to local events and when camping and driving the Green Lanes of the UK (Devon & Wales).

A little about Smurf

Trevor is a 1986 110, he served with the RAF and then the North West convoy group, before being retired from the military in 1996, which is when he came to Jersey, I’ve owned him since 2013 and in my ownership I have fitted a 200tdi from a discovery and replaced the chassis with a 2nd hand one as the original one was filled with expanding foam. He is currently in the process of a full rebuild with a brand new galvanised chassis and bulkhead, I’ll be going for an OEM plus style rebuild with the aim of making him more capable and comfortable then he was when he was new.
In 2010 there was offer of trips away with Jersey Land Rover Owners Club so looked at getting something better suited which still had the same old simple charm so went to the Defender you see today. The Defender is more practical as being a commercial I used it as a car/van/off roader/recovery also for helping friends and doing amateur auto electrical which over the years I have learnt lots as well as the usual Land Rover joys needing repairs.
Since owning it has done number of French trips, UK trips, Jersey Land Rover Club events, JIMF, Island Walk, Mencap, Jersey Rally (Junction) Radio Car on many occasions.

Meet Disco Dave. I've had him for about 18 months. Since buying this marvelous Discovery 3, I've been busy making sure it's Overland and Trip ready.
It may look and feel very comfortable, posh and a pavement princess. But don't let all the leather and comfort fool you. This Discovery can keep up with some of he big boys in the dirt with it's Traction Control, Centre and Rear locking differential it can hold it's own off he beaten track.

For two years and nature took over, I was looking for a D1 TDI as I had just come back from a club drive in North Wales in my 110 V8, it the V8 was awesome of road but expensive to run, So I decided to find myself a Discovery one where I wouldn't have to have any electrical problems it was not starting due to a faulty immobiliser which we managed to sort.
